“Mi-Fone named Frost & Sullivan’s 2014 ‘Entrepreneurial Company of the Year’

After a global search by Frost & Sullivan analysts to find companies that are frequently achieving greatness in customer excellence and entrepreneurial spirit, Mi-Fone, the FIRST African mobile devices brand; has come out on top and has been awarded the 2014’s ‘Entrepreneurial Company of the Year’ in the Mobile Phone Industry sector for Sub-Sahara Africa by the market research organization.

Following the worldwide hunt to monitor, screen and analyse creative practices within the regions of various companies, global network consultants at the Growth and Partnership Company have identified Mi-Fone as the enterprise that has stood out from the rest in Sub-Sahara Africa.

Mi-Group International Ltd (Parent company of Mi-Fone BVI Ltd ) CEO Alpesh Patel has been honoured with the prestigious award for his critically proactive involvement in establishing the first Pan-African owned and Branded Mobile Device provider. Having imparted a strong footprint in the highly competitive mobile phone market in Sub-Saharan Africa, Alpesh Patel explains, “Our mission as a lifestyle brand is to work with global partners to enhance their current offerings.”

In March this year this innovative African mobile company launched a new entity called OJU Africa Ltd and cleverly launched the world’s first Afro Emoticons named “Oju“. “Oju” literally meaning “faces” in the Yoruba language from Nigeria, is an innovation born out of the motherland. Aimed to address the need to have a more diverse range of emoticons. “Oju is a proud, positive, modern African concept that communicates across all mediums around the world. We had a dream of digitally uniting Africa, and through the launch of the Oju Africa Afro Emoticons we are sharing African soul, funk and unparalleled smiles with the world,” remarks Patel.

According to Frost and Sullivan chairman David Frigstad, “The company’s entrepreneurial spirit has not only been showcased in the products and services it has developed over time but also in the risk that it has taken to outweigh the well-established multinational giants.”

Mi-Fone is a true shining example of how an African start up with zero external funding can create a multimillion dollar Pan African business in a space of a few years.
