Bedford Centre shoppers became catwalk stars in a pop-up fashion show

Johannesburg, South Africa. - Bedford Centre turned average Saturday-morning shopping into a pop-up fashion show today as unsuspecting shoppers became instant stars on the catwalk.

Giggles, smiles and the awkward look were only some of the facial expressions of the everyday consumer as Bedford created an instant pop-up runway at the top of one of the escalators, making it virtually impossible for the shy ones to turn around.

As shoppers got to the top of the escalator, a red carpet awaited them with well-known media and media bloggers/jorno guests cheering them on. Well-known celebrities like TV presenter Stacey Holland, actress and SCD winner Zakeeya Patel, Fashion Designer JJ Schoeman, Actors Athandwa and Thembisa Khani, Michaella Russell from Isidingo and model Tamerin Jardine were spotted at the center.

But the festivities didn’t end here. Media were treated to a shopping feast as they were involved in a little fashion exercise. They got to team up and come up with the best street fashion on the runway.

The pop-up fashion show was a teaser for the centre’s #BedfordProjectStyle event on 4 October 2014 with renowned international stylist for the BAFTA’s, royal family and celebrities, Sophia Branch. Here, shoppers will be the opportunity to find their style and fashion voice. One consumer will win a guaranteed R50 000 Bedford gift card, make-over and personalized shopping spree.

In order to enter the competition one simply needs to spend R300 or more at any store at Bedford before the 22nd of September. The winner will then be randomly drawn and have their makeover revealed at the #BedfordProjectStyle fashion show and event at 15h00.
